The first 39 books of the Bible are called the Old Testament. 12 of those books are called the Minor Prophets (because the books are small). Nahum is the seventh of the 12.
One hundred years after Jonah preached repentance to the city of Nineveh (and they did repent) God now sends His prophet Nahum with a message of destruction. The city of Nineveh, a major city of Assyria, has long ago repented of its repentance and has once again made itself God’s enemy by coming against God’s people, Israel. God will come as a powerful, wrathful avenger of His people. The attack on Nineveh and its devastation are the inevitable result of tyranny against God and His people.
