EPHESIANS—The LETTER

Ephesians Thumb

The last 27 books of the Bible are called the New Testament. 21 of those books are called Epistles or letters. They were written for the instruction of believers in Jesus, the Christ.

Written from Paul, to the saints at Ephesus who are faithful in Christ Jesus, this epistle (letter) catapults believers to the highest heaven, to realize their position in Christ Jesus. Jew and Gentile are instructed on their unified position in Christ, no longer separated by the barrier of the Law. In the light of their high calling, Paul exhorts the church to walk in a manner worthy of their calling. We are to be imitators of God, as His beloved children—and as His children, we are siblings, so there must peace between us.

After giving instruction on behavior as part of the church, Paul reminds them that the real struggle is not between Jew and Gentile, but rather between the body of Christ and spiritual forces of wickedness in the heavenly places. And as such, believers are able to stand firm against the schemes of the devil by putting on the full armor of God.
